A movie marathon is one of many great winter activities – especially for this week! Here’s the list of our 4 favourite all-rounder Christmas films…
1. Christmas in Connecticut

Released in 1945, this is a story about a war hero called Jefferson Jones who grows familiar with the “Diary of a Housewife” column written by Elizabeth Lane while he recovers in hospital.
To lift his spirits, Jeff’s nurse arranges for him to spend the festive period at Elizabeth’s bucolic Connecticut farm with her husband and child. The twist is that Elizabeth is not quite who she seems and now has to put on the perfect domestic show for her editor and Jeff.
This story features a love triangle and features lots of laughs for you to enjoy whilst snuggled up on your Riser Recliner!
2. It’s a Wonderful Life
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) is a Frank Capra classic and is perfect for putting a smile on your face whilst also bringing a tear to your eye. The story is about a frustrated businessman who becomes suicidal and has an angel from heaven sent to him to change his mind.
This angel shows him what life would have been like without his existence which makes it a beautiful story full of life lessons and will definitely bring you a different perspective on life!
3. Miracle on 34th Street

A true heart-warmer – Miracle on 34th Street has two versions, the original (1947) and the remake (1994). Both versions are very similar apart from the obvious difference of the remake being in colour – so whichever tickles your fancy!
This story takes place between Thanksgiving and Christmas in the USA city of New York City. It is about a little girl who meets a department store Santa who claims to be the real deal. Will he be able to convince her he is?
4. The Family Stone
Produced in 2005, The Family Stone is about an uptight businesswoman who joins her boyfriend to visit his quirky and outgoing family for their annual Christmas party.
She hopes to win his family over, but instead faces highlighting her uptight personality and making her boyfriend doubt his intentions.
This film has it all – romance, comedy and tears! A light-hearted Christmas film for any mood.
